A bridge over the Babai River has collapsed on Monday.

Constructed two years ago by the Pappu Construction, the bridge that connects north-south, east-west highway caved in before its handover due to incessant rainfall.

According to Chief District Officer (CDO) Bishnu Bahadur Thapa, following the collapse, vehicles heading towards north-south have been stranded.

The construction of bridge was completed despite locals saying that it was constructed with weak foundation.

Around 100,000 locals have been displaced due to floods trigged by torrential rainfall in Babai, Karnali and Man Khola since Friday night.
