Man died in Covid-19 Butwal hospital before infection confirmation


A man admitted to the new temporary hospital established targeting those suspected of the novel coronavirus infection has died, in Butwal of Ruapndehi district on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased, a resident of Palpa district of Province 5, was 33, according to Surya Bahadur Bhattarai, the chairperson of Lumbini Provincial Hospital, which manages the hospital in partnership with Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City.

However, he was yet to be diagnosed with the infection. His swab sample had been sent to Kathmandu for a test for the virus early morning today, according to the hospital’s focal person Dr Sudarshan Thapa. The report of the test has not come out.

The man had come back to Nepal on March 19 from the United Arab Emirates and had gone to Sainamaina of Rupandehi the next day.

After having a temperature, he had gone to the provincial hospital, which referred him to the coronavirus-dedicated hospital.
